Abstract

Time is a non-renewable resource, and time management involves the ability to plan and align it with professional goals by prioritizing tasks, minimizing wasteful behaviors, and making optimal use of available time each day. Consequently, effective time management has become crucial not only as a motivator for the behavior, performance, and productivity of nursing department heads, but also as a foundation for the overall performance of the hospital. Therefore, this research addresses the question of the effectiveness of implementing a specialized time management training program in improving the job performance of nursing department heads. To evaluate this effectiveness, the current quasi-experimental study was conducted on all nursing departments heads (N = 60) in Banias, Qadmus and Jableh National Hospitals, selected using the convenience sampling method. The results showed that the training program was effective in improving time management dimensions and nursing staff job performance, producing a direct positive effect that continued after three months of implementation. It also showed that there were very important statistical differences in the level of time management before the program was implemented among the participants, attributed to the hospital, gender, and experience as a department head. There were also important differences in the level of job performance before the program was implemented among the participants, attributable only to the hospital and experience as a department head. The researcher recommended the need to generalize the training program to various hospitals to ensure that the largest number of nursing staff benefit and to integrate the training into the annual plans of health institutions as part of the continuing professional development. programs.
