The Relationship between Work Stresses and Organizational Commitment among the Nursing Staff at Latakia University Hospital

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the relationship between work pressure and organizational commitment from the perspective of the nursing staff at Latakia University Hospital. The sample consisted of all members of the nursing staff (350) nurses who were present during the collecting of study data and agreed to participate in it (the available sample was applied to the nursing staff). The researcher used a work pressures sources questionnaire designed by the researcher Hamzawy (2020) after making appropriate modifications by the researcher in this research to suit its objectives, and organizational commitment assessment questionnaire and designed by the researcher Salman (2013) After making the appropriate modifications by the researcher in this research to suit its objectives, and after unpacking the data ,it was statistically processed and tabulated using the SPSS statistical program. The most important results of this study were: there is a weak inverse relationship with important statistical significance between work pressure and organizational commitment of the nursing staff in Latakia University Hospital, a moderate level of work stresses was observed among the nursing staff across all dimensions (role burden, role conflict, work environment, social relations) and a low level of role ambiguity, and the results of this study showed a moderate level of organizational commitment across all dimensions (emotional, continuous, standard).
