Evaluation of the Vibraject Device in Reducing Pain During Local Anesthesia Injection in Pediatric Patients

Introduction: Pain control remains one of the major challenges in pediatric dentistry, as painful dental experiences can foster negative attitudes and dental anxiety in children. Therefore, the search for alternative techniques that minimize discomfort is of great importance. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Vibraject device in reducing pain during local anesthesia in children, compared with the conventional syringe.
Materials and Methods :The study included 56 children aged between 6 and 10 years, who were randomly allocated into two equal groups:
Control (28 children): Received local anesthesia using the conventional syringe.
Experimental (28 children): Received local anesthesia using the Vibraject device.
Pain intensity was assessed immediately after the procedure using:
Wong-Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale for self-reported pain, FLACC scale for behavioral observational pain assessment.
Results: Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in mean pain scores between the two groups, with the control group reporting significantly higher ranks of pain compared to the experimental group on both the Wong-Baker and FLACC scales (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: The findings indicate that the Vibraject device is effective in reducing pain during local anesthesia administration in children. Its use may represent a comfortable and safe adjunctive option in pediatric dental practice.
