Assessment Of Parents' Satisfaction Towards Nursing Care Provided To Their Children During Chemotherapy

Abstract

patients’ experiences and satisfaction are considered to be vital components  for healthcare interventions evaluation, and family support and satisfaction is one of the factors that can affect the  quality of  life of children  with  cancer,. Thus, the level of parent’s satisfaction with health care can be used as a good variable for measuring quality of care. This study aimed to assess the level of cancer children’s parents’ satisfaction during chemotherapy. a cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted on a convenient sample of 100 persons of fathers and mothers of the pediatric cancer patients were selected. Data was collected using a two-part questionnaire: socio-demographic data part and parents’ satisfaction assessment tool. Results showed a medium level of parents’ satisfaction of the total nursing care provided to their children during chemotherapy. It is recommended to improve medical and nursing staff communications with parents of children with cancer and provide them with the sufficient information about their child’s condition.
