Aim: to evaluate the retention of complete upper removable dentures bases after modifying their buccal and buccal posterior borders with soft lining material, compared to conventional complete bases. Materials and Methods: The study included 12 patients aged between 40 -70. The sample were divided into 2 equal groups. After recording the final impressions, the master cast was duplicated. Each patient received two bases. The first group: each patient received (A1) Traditional Heat-cured acrylic base, (B1) Modified base with lined buccal borders (Molloplast B). The second group: each patient received (A2) Traditional Heat-cured acrylic base, (B2) Upper base modified their buccal and posterior borders with (Molloplast B). Results: It showed an improvement in the retention of bases (B1) compared to (A1) with a statistically significant difference (less than 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the retention of bases (B2) compared to (A2), as the p-value was 0.116 (>0.05). Conclusion: Modifying buccal borders of dentures bases with soft material showed a significant improvement in the retention of these bases. No significant improvement was shown in the retention of bases whose buccal and posterior borders were modified with the soft material.
