The role of the university in promoting a culture of dialogue and social coexistence among students, from the perspective of faculty members at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Latakia University.

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the role of the university in promoting a culture of dialogue and social coexistence among students from the perspective of faculty members at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Latakia University. The study sample consisted of (89) faculty members. In order to achieve the research objectives, the descriptive method was used and a questionnaire consisting of (24) statements distributed across four dimensions was designed. The research reached the following results:

The roles of (the educational process, university activities, and university culture) in promoting a culture of dialogue and social cohesion were rated as high.

The challenges and obstacles to promoting a culture of dialogue and social cohesion among students, from the perspective of faculty members, were rated as high.

There were no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of faculty members’ responses on the axes of the questionnaire regarding the university's role in promoting a culture of dialogue and social cohesion among students according to the variables of (job position, years of experience, department).
