Training needs of first-cycle teachers on knowledge management skills in light of education transformation
(A field study in Basic schools in Lattakia city)
Abstract
This research sought to identify the training needs of primary school teachers in knowledge management skills, within the context of the transformation of education toward digitization and e-learning. The targeted skills included: knowledge acquisition, knowledge identification, knowledge generation, knowledge storage, knowledge dissemination, knowledge application, and knowledge evaluation.
The research adopted a descriptive approach, and a questionnaire consisting of (65) statements was designed to measure the level of training need in this area. The tool was administered to a representative sample of (135) male and female teachers.
The results of the analysis showed that the level of training needs in knowledge management skills in light of the educational transformation was generally average, according to the approved statistical standards. The results also indicated a high training need in the skills of "knowledge evaluation" and "knowledge application," from the teachers' perspective, while the remaining skills were at an average level of need.
Based on the findings of the research, the following recommendations were made:
- Organizing training workshops aimed at developing teachers' skills in using digital tools and platforms for knowledge management.
- Holding educational seminars to raise teachers' awareness of the challenges and opportunities associated with knowledge management in digital education.
- Conducting follow-up studies to monitor and update teachers' training needs in line with developments in the digital transformation of education.
