The Impact of Internet Culture on Adolescents
Abstract
This research examines the impact of internet culture on adolescents. Firstly, we explored the concept of culture, and secondly, we investigated the elements of this culture, studying socialization and the role of socialization in shaping individuals. The research aimed to understand the motivations that make adolescents influenced by electronic culture, and to identify the reality of the spread of internet culture among adolescents and measure the degree of influence of moral values patterns on adolescents. In this research, we relied on the descriptive method as the appropriate method that allows us to describe the phenomenon under study as it is. The research concluded a number of results, the most important of which are: adolescents may have been influenced by Western culture as shown by the field study, and the reason behind this is due to the widespread phenomenon of internet culture globally as well as in the Arab world. This means that this research attempted to identify the means of influence and impact that adolescents are subjected to, especially in the context of the spread of social media platforms that participate in the socialization process of individuals and adolescents in particular. We focused in this research on a number of important issues in the context of showing the impact of internet culture on adolescents, and how to address the dominance of this impact on adolescents. Therefore, this study came in both theoretical and practical aspects to understand the danger of this influence and the psychological and educational problems it may cause that threaten local social values in society.
