Predominant learning styles according to the VARK model and their relationship with kinesthetic intelligence among students enrolled in the gymnastics course in the Physical Education department

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the Predominant learning styles according to the VARK model and their relationship with kinesthetic intelligence among students enrolled in the gymnastics course in the Physical Education department at Al al-Bayt University. The study employed a descriptive survey method with a sample of 38 students, consisting of 25 males and 13 females. To achieve the research objective, a questionnaire was designed to assess the level of predominant learning styles according to the VARK model among physical education students, comprising four styles (visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic), along with another questionnaire to assess the level of kinesthetic intelligence. Statistical analyses such as mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and others were utilized to reach the results. The findings indicated that the predominant learning style among students was kinesthetic, followed by visual, auditory, and reading/writing styles, respectively. Furthermore, there was a positive correlation between predominant learning styles and kinesthetic intelligence among gymnastics students in the Physical Education department. The study recommended the necessity of teaching gymnastics using strategies and methods that align with kinesthetic and visual learning styles, while also enhancing the educational process with auditory and reading/writing learning styles when teaching gymnastics skills to physical education students.
