Study of the Relationship between Operations Support Systems and Performance in Agricultural Products Markets in Syria (Al-Hal Market)

Abstract

The research aimed to study the relationship between operations support systems and the performance of agricultural products markets organizations in Syria (AL Hal markets), by identifying the role of the components of operations support systems, represented by: individuals, devices, software, and data in the performance of the organizations included in the research sample. The research relied on the Descriptive analytical approach as a general research approach, where a questionnaire was designed and distributed to a facilitated sample of workers in the studied organizations. The number of questionnaires valid for statistical analysis was 225 questionnaires. The research results showed a positive moral impact of the components of operations support systems in improving performance. The components of operations support systems can be arranged in terms of the intensity of the impact on improving performance, as follows: devices, software, individuals, and data. The research's most prominent recommendations include: adopting an integrated plan for using operations support systems that takes into account the balance between the four components (hardware, software, data, and people), prioritizing investment in technical infrastructure, restructuring performance priorities to achieve a balance between the various dimensions, linking customer satisfaction indicators and environmental commitment to improving financial and operational performance, and establishing mechanisms for continuous monitoring and evaluation.
