Effect of Foliar Application of Seaweed Extract on selected Quality Indicators of Olive Oil "Darmlali Cultivar" after Storage

The research was carried out during the (2023/2024) season on 30-year-old olive trees of the "Darmalali" cultivar in the Baluran area of Latakia Governorate, with the aim of studying the effect of foliar application of seaweed extract several times and at different times on some indicators of the olive oil cultivar "Darmalali" after extracting and storing it for several months, the spraying process with the extract (yam yam100) with a concentration of 1.5 g/L was carried out according to the following coefficients T0: control spray with water only, T1: One spray in March, T2: two sprays in March and May, T3: three sprays in March, May and July, these months are considered to be the phenological phases of the olive tree (before flowering, after fruit set and the volumetric growth of fruits).The experiment was designed in a completely random manner with four duplicates for each treatment, and the crop was harvested on20 of October.
The results showed the positive effect of the studied treatments on the percentage of olive oil of the Darmlali cultivar, especially the T3 treatment (spraying the extract at a concentration of 1.5 grams per liter on three sprays), which achieved a significant superiority of 27.6%, and the study also showed an improvement in the quality of stored oil in all treatments (acidity, peroxide value, and carotene and chlorophyll content) when compared with the control.
