Abstract

As known, when suddenly applying longitudinal load, less than Euler critical load, the beam (rod) loses its stability and passes into pseudo-equilibrium states (Euler classical problem).

The problem becomes more complex for dynamic longitudinal load, and in advanced cases, longitudinal waves propagate along the beam and could generate intensive transversal oscillations.

In this paper, we consider a long-time load, less than Euler’s critical limit, and we study the influence of the smoothness factor of longitudinal load application on the beam on transversal oscillations amplitude.
