This research aims to identify the level of Type A personality traits among heart patients in Latakia Governorate and to study differences in Type A personality traits based on certain classificatory variables (gender, social status). The research population consisted of all heart patients in private medical clinics and those residing in Latakia city. A simple random sample of 58 patients was drawn from Latakia Governorate, comprising 39 males and 19 females, ranging in age from 45 to 60 years, and representing diverse educational levels (primary, preparatory, secondary, and university). To achieve the research objectives, the Type A Behavior Scale developed by Al-Farah and Al-Atoum (1999) was used as the research instrument. The scale consists of 28 statements, each with three response options: always, sometimes, and never. The descriptive approach was employed as it was deemed most suitable for this research.
The results indicated the following:
- The personality type level among the sample was average.
- There was a statistically significant difference between males and females in personality type (A), favoring males.
- There was a statistically significant difference between single and married individuals in personality type (A), favoring married individuals.
