Keywords:
creative thinking skills, science textbook, fourth grade (basic/primary)Abstract
The aim of the research was to identify the creative thinking skills included in the content of the fourth-grade science textbook. To achieve this, the descriptive-analytical method was used, and a form for creative thinking skills was prepared, consisting of (4) main skills and (24) sub-indicators, so that each main skill included (6) sub-indicators. The research reached the following results: Creative thinking skills appeared in the fourth-grade science textbook in the first and second semesters with a total of (219) occurrences and varying percentages. The flexibility skill ranked first with (65) occurrences at a percentage of (29.68%), the fluency skill ranked second with (54) occurrences at a percentage of (24.66%), the originality skill ranked third with (53) occurrences at a percentage of (24.20%), and the elaboration skill ranked fourth and last with (47) occurrences at a percentage of (21.46%).
From the above, the results showed a weakness in the degree of availability of creative thinking skills in the fourth-grade science textbook, as all of them were at a weak level (all less than 40%), which confirms the deficiency in the presence of creative thinking skills in the science textbook.
