The deliberative dimensions of the phases of the narrative program - a reading in the novel (two hours.. two squares)

Abstract

This study focuses on the pragmatic dimensions of the phases of the narrative program and their interaction with narrative factors in the narrative text, to reveal the dimensions of the application of the theory of the factor model of Grimmas in interrogating the narrative structure in the narrative text, so the study relied on the analysis of the narrative structure in the novel (Two hours .. two squares) by the writer Zuhair Jabbour, and the study aims to answer key questions, most notably: How to apply the theory of the factor model in the narrative text procedure and format? What is the scientific and pragmatic value that emerges by resorting to factor analysis of the phases of the narrative program in the narrative text?  

The novel (Two hours.. two squares) represents a model for a complex narrative program that constitutes rich material for study for narrative and linguistic reasons; while narrative reasons can be summarized in: the form of narration alternating between two complementary and independent stories, one of which constitutes a narrative framework for the other. While the linguistic reasons for the study that make the novel a spacious field for the application of Grimmas's theory of factors are: the diversity of the narrative form and its construction and its reflection on the phases of the narrative program and the process of the general narrative event, and the openness of semantics in tracing two opposite narrative lines that are sometimes close and far apart at other times.                                                             

In short, the novel (Two hours.. two squares) in its narrative structure constituted a typical cognitive and applied tool for Grimmas's theory of factors.
