Abstract
The research aims to study the relationship between the pattern of values and the degree of concern among a sample of students at University of Damascus. It also studies the differences among them in the pattern and degree of moral concern depending on the variable of gender. The research adopted the descriptive analytical method and its tools included: test values for Allport Vernon Lindsay's Test Values and measure of anxiety (STAI). The research was conducted on a random sample of 383 students of all undergraduates at Damascus University, selected using the law of statistical sample.
Using appropriate statistical methods, the research came up with the following results:
- There is a statistically significant inverse relationship between, on the one hand, spiritual, aesthetic, social, theoretical, economic, as well as political values and, on the other hand, students' degree of anxiety: the greater the degree of anxiety students have, the lesser values they have.
- There are no statistically significant differences between the students' mean scores in relation to those values depending on the variable of gender.
- There are no statistically significant differences between the students' mean scores in relation to anxiety depending on the variable of gender.
