Abstract
The myth of Tamooz, the god of spring, may symbolize birth after death and the myth of the phoenix, which rejuvenates, are popular myths celebrated by contemporary poets.
Khalil Hawi is an eminent poet in this respect. He has exploited these two myths to interpret the crisis in the Arabic civilization and endeavor to reanimate it. His poem ''Beyond Glaciations'' is considered as a rich sample benefiting from these two myths. He casts a mythological dimension on the materialistic reality extracting pessimistic vision mixed with the image of resurrecting civilization and forming a national vision in the orbit of existentialist experiment presented through the different lines of his poem.
