Assessment of Awareness and Attitudes of Students of Latakia University Regarding Sexual Education

Introduction: Sexual education is defined as a systematic process aimed at raising individuals awareness regarding concepts related to sexual health, including: biological, psychological, social, and ethical information.
The aim of this study was to: Assessment the level of awareness and attitudes of students of AL-Lattakia University regarding sexual education.
Research materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive quantitative study was conducted on a convenient sample of 500 male and female students from various non- medical faculties at Al-Lattakia University, data were collected during the period between 25/3/2024 to 15/8/2024, using a structured questionnaire consisting of four sections.
The results: The study results showed that more than half of the sample had a medium level of awareness regarding sexual education and their main source of information was social media, followed by educational curricula, while the least common sources were doctors and nurses, and the vast majority of participants demonstrated a positive attitude about sex education.
Conclusion and recommendations: Develop effective and appropriate sexual education programs in universities, organize awareness-raising workshops, and provide reliable resources through digital platforms, it is also recommended to conduct further studies on the topic of sexual education among the student population with a larger sample size.
