Impact of Applying a Leadership Development Training Program on the level of Self-Efficacy among Heads of Nursing Divisions

The self-leadership competencies required by the head of the nursing department constitute a challenge in managing the nursing department and creating a work environment full of innovation, cooperation and flexibility in order to achieve safe and high-quality care for patients. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of implementing a training program to develop leadership on the level of self-efficacy among heads of nursing departments. This research was conducted at Lattakia University Hospital and the National Hospital in Lattakia city on a sample of 40 heads of nursing departments. The results showed that the level of self-efficacy of heads of nursing departments was high before and after implementing the program, and that all axes of self-efficacy showed a high level except for the axis of patient care, which was at an average level before implementing the program, A statistically significant improvement in the total self-efficacy score and in all items of the self-efficacy scale after the program. Therefore, the researcher recommends focusing on using training as an effective approach to support heads of nursing departments and also emphasizing that heads of nursing departments attend training programs and workshops to support leadership skills that are reflected in their self-efficacy.
