The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into the field of architecture has attracted wide global attention, accompanied by concerns regarding its influence on the future of the profession and role of architects as designers. At the same time, many argue that artificial intelligence enhances speed , efficiency , and the integration of data within design process. in a distinctive manner. This study aims to explore the possibility of incorporating artificial intelligence into architectural design education in Syrian universities through an experimental study applied to a selected sample of third-year students in the architectural design course for the academic year 2024-2025.
The theoretical findings demonstrates that integrating AI into architectural design education requires a controlled academic mechanism and clear framework for determining the appropriate timing and method of incorporation. The integration process should begin in the intermediate study stages (third year), progressing toward understanding the principles of preliminary design. The applied study revealed that programming knowledge combined with the design process contributes to developing a generation of architects_ an essential step for the effective use of artificial intelligence in architecture. The findings also revealed that AI enhances architectural output, accurately visualizes complex design ideas, and provides creative possibilities that inspire architects to generate more innovative design solutions.
