Abstract

The study aimed to determine the role of implementing the Syrian Arab Building Code in consumer behavior regarding the reduction of structural risks when purchasing residential apartments in Syria, focusing on building safety confidence, purchase intention, and the purchasing decision. A deductive approach was adopted as a general reasoning framework, and a descriptive-analytical method was used to define research concepts and analyze data collected via a questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to a simple random sample of 75 consumers wishing to buy a residential apartment in Lattakia. Data analysis and hypothesis testing were conducted using SPSS software, relying on arithmetic means and the One-Sample T-Test.The study reached several key results, most notably:

·        100% of the studied sample confirmed their fear of structural risks resulting from the non-compliance of the apartment with the Syrian Arab Building Code.

·        Respondents confirmed that their consumer behavior—whether related to risk perception, safety confidence, purchase intention, or the final purchasing decision—is linked to the ideal application of the code's requirements in Lattakia's residential neighborhoods.
