Using Factor Analysis To Study The Factors Influencing Latakia University's Ranking In International University Rankings From The Perspective Of Latakia University Faculty Members.

Abstract

The research aims to identify the reality of Latakia University and its position in global university rankings, and then to study the factors affecting Latakia University’s ranking within global university ranking lists from the perspective of faculty members at Latakia University using factor analysis. This is achieved by designing and distributing a questionnaire to a sample of 519 faculty members at Latakia University, and analyzing and studying the sample’s responses during the months of October, November and December 2024.

The study concluded that Latakia University achieved a ranking in global and local university rankings in 2024. Then, using exploratory factor analysis, the study identified three factors influencing Latakia University's ranking in global university rankings from the perspective of faculty members at Latakia University, which explained 69.853% of the findings. From the overall variance and its determination according to its degree of influence, the three extracted factors were named according to the variables they included as follows: (educational efficiency, the reality of scientific research, strategies used to improve the global ranking of Latakia University). The three factors were complementary in terms of their explanatory percentage As the values of the coefficients of the variables representing the factors approached, any change in a variable plays a significant role in changing the university's ranking, and therefore, all variables related to each factor should be focused on
