Measuring the Impact of Intellectual Capital components on Financial Distress for Financial Firms (Applied Study of Banks Listed on the Damascus Securities Exchange)

This study aimed to:1. Measure the efficiency level of intellectual capital components in Syrian private conventional banks.2. Assess the degree of exposure of Syrian private conventional banks to financial distress risks according to the Altman model.3. Examine the impact of intellectual capital components on financial distress in Syrian conventional banks.
The research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing panel data analysis to measure the effect of intellectual capital components on financial distress in Syrian conventional banks. The study covered a time series from 2011 to 2023, with data sourced from disclosures listed on the Damascus Securities Exchange. The sample included all 11 listed private conventional banks.
The results revealed a statistically significant impact of **human capital** on Altman's financial distress model. In contrast, **structural capital**, **physical capital**, and **relational capital** showed no statistically significant effects on financial distress.
