Evaluation of the bioactivity of extracted marine fatty acids on some bacterial species

In this study, samples of Dahban mullet (L. aurata) were collected from the fishing and picnic beach area at a depth ranging between 10-15 meters during the months of June and July in 2023, at a rate of six samples per month. An extract containing fatty acids from fish was obtained by using ultrasonic waves method at a frequency of 40 Hz and at a temperature of 40 °C, using a N-hexane solution. Then it was filtered to obtain the fatty compounds without impurities and analyzed by a GC-MS device to determine the fatty compounds present and their correct proportions. Then add this extract to the bacterial culture media (MUELLER-HINTON) in several ways and study its bioactivity against some pathogenic bacterial species that were previously identified in the Lattakia University Hospital laboratory for bacterial analysis
The results of the study showed that the bioactivity of the fatty extract showed differences in the growth of bacteria according to its bacterial specie within the region of contact between them and the fatty extract for the Pseudomonas auroginosa bacteria and for the Escherchia coli bacteria. As for the Staphylo coccus aureus bacteria, the bio activity of the organic extract was weaker, as the growth was less than the previous two bacterial species.
