Therapeutic Effect of Rosa Damascena extract on  diclofenac – induced hepatic and renal toxicity in albino mice

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of the Ethanolic extract of Rosa damascene petals in diclofenac-induced hepatorenal toxicity in white mice. Thirty female Balb/c mice were randomly divided into three experimental groups. Group 1
 ( physiological control)  received 0.9% physiological saline intraperitoneal for 7 days, Group 2 ( pathological control)  was injected intraperitoneal with diclofenac at a dose of
 50 mg/kg for 7 days to induce hepatorenal toxicity. Group 3 was treated in the same manner as Group 2 and then orally administered the Ethanolic extract of Rosa damascene petals at a dose of 100 mg/kg daily for 3 weeks. At the end of the experiment, blood samples were collected, and hepatic markers (AST and ALT) as well as renal markers
 (urea and creatinine) were assessed. The results showed significant differences between the diclofenac-treated group and the physiological control group, with marked increases in all hepatic and renal parameters at p < 0.05. In contrast, treatment with the extract significantly reduced these parameters compared with the diclofenac group at p < 0..05, indicating its effectiveness in alleviating diclofenac-induced hepatic and renal injury
