Effect of vine load of winter eyes and removal of first fruit batch on the productivity and quality of the second fruits batch of the local grape (Sabiei variety)

Abstract

This research was conducted between 2020 and 2023 at the Agricultural Scientific Research Center - General Commission of Agricultural Scientific Research in Lattakia. It aims at studying the effect of tree load of winter buds and the removal of the first batch of fruits on the productive, physical and chemical characteristics of the second batch of local grape fruits (Sabiei variety) by conducting a factorial experiment with two factors: removal factor (zero removal & removal), and load factor (number of winter eyes on the tree (24, 36, 48). The results showed improved productivity by removing the first batch of fruits. However, the productivity reached 11.055 kg/tree, versus 6.621 kg/tree without removal, Otherwise, the productivity reached 15.87 kg /tree by 48 winter buds and removal the first batch of fruits. The above factors also had a positive effect on the physical and chemical properties of fruits with improved quality.
