Abstract

Methyl parathion pollution poses a growing environmental threat, necessitating the development of sensitive and accurate analytical methods for its monitoring. This study aims to determine the optimal operational conditions for analyzing this pesticide using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with a (DAD). The methodology relied on the independent investigation of three key variables: detection wavelength, mobile phase flow rate, and column oven temperature. The results demonstrated that the highest analytical response (peak area) and best precision (RSD < 1%) were achieved at a wavelength of 200nm, a flow rate of 1 ml/min, and a temperature of 40ºC. The application of these optimal conditions significantly enhanced sensitivity, with an improvement in peak area of approximately 23.3% at 50 ppm compared to the reference conditions. The (LOD) and (LOQ) were calculated following the ICH guidelines, yielding values of 0.0015 ppm and 0.0044 ppm, respectively, while maintaining excellent linearity (R2=0.999). These findings provide a reliable and sensitive analytical protocol that can be efficiently applied for monitoring methyl parathion residues in environmental matrices, thereby contributing to environmental surveillance and risk assessment efforts.
