Preparation of Metalloceramics in the Cu-V2O5 Binary System at Different Molar Percentages

Abstract

Ceramic compounds play a significant role in the advancement of science and technology. They are widely used in various

s biological, electronic, and other applications due to the distinctive properties of their constituent materials, making them among the most efficient materials of our time, particularly metallic ceramics.

These compounds represent a branch of technology or science that deals with inorganic raw materials formed between metallic elements and oxides.

A series of samples were prepared and sintered in an air atmosphere. X-ray diffraction results revealed that:

At copper ratios of (80-90%) in the studied system, two equilibrium phases are formed: Cu2V2O7 (Copper Vanadate) and Copper Oxide (CuO), constituting a statistical ceramic.

At a copper ratio of 75%, the sample crystallizes in a triclinic system, forming the rare compound Cu11O2(VO4)6, which is characterized by a unique chemical structure

At a copper ratio of 66.66%, the β-phase of the Cu2V2O7 compound is formed.

At copper ratios of (10-20-33.33-50%), this phase dissolves in vanadium oxide, forming a matrix ceramic.
